Artificial grass is pretty low maintenance. Depending on the brand and artificial grass type, you may need to do more or less, but usually, you’ll just need to do 3 things, removing leaves and debris on its surface, preventing and removing existing weeds, and hosing down from time to time. When taking care of artificial grass, remember that it is made of materials that require you use the proper cleaning agents and tools to ensure that it lasts its intended lifespan.

Each installation is unique, so this depends on the size of the turf installation and the amount of prep work the site requires. In general, most residential lawn & landscape turf installations take 1 – 2 days. Larger projects that require a lot of preparation can take 3 – 4 days.

The most basic description of our installation process begins with removing existing aggregate, installing a base layer consisting of class II road base, laying the grass, securing it in place and spreading the infill. Your salesman will be able to provide you with a duration time frame when quoting your project.

Artificial grass is manufactured using polypropylene, polyethylene, and nylon.

Provided that the artificial grass is given the proper care and maintenance, you can expect your turf to last anywhere from 15 to 25 years.

If sitting in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time, artificial grass will get hot. It doesn’t become as hot as asphalt or concrete, but after sitting in the sun for several hours it will heat up. To combat this you can spray your artificial grass lawn with a hose to cool it down. A more preventative option is to use T°Cool® Infill which cools artificial grass by 30° – 50° F through the process of evaporative cooling.

There are a number of infill options available in the turf market. Although some fake grasses are advertised as being non-infill products, most of the time this is not correct or suitable for long-term use. Any grass will look nice without infill if you don’t plan to walk on it. Infill serves a few purposes in an artificial grass installation such as:
– Acts as ballast and weighs down the turf
– Keeps individual turf fibers upright and prevents matting
– Some infill options like T°Cool® Infill help cool the turf through the process of evaporative cooling
– The T°Cool® Infill mentioned above and Envirofill both offer antimicrobial protection that helps prevent the buildup of odors and bacteria from dog urine
